Have you heard of the term “Nouveau Riche”? It describes people who were able to accumulate a vast amount fortune given the fact that they were previously part of a lower socioeconomic stratum. I want to be part of this “type of people”. I am in my late teens and I am dreaming – hoping – that by the time I reach the age of forty, I can already call myself a millionaire, a nouveau riche. I was able to read an article entitled “Planet Startup” that lists a dozen ventures that American entrepreneurs can undertake. The list is varying from building cheap wi-fis in Brazil up to being one of the first in invest in Libya. It also lists the amount of investment that you would need as well as the level of risk that the venture involves. Articles like these inspire and encourage young entrepreneurs like me. These types of investments may not be within reach right now. I don’t have the amount needed for the investment. But what I have is the tenacity and the faith in myself that in the future, I will be able to reach my dreams. And as the article mentioned, one need a big appetite for adventure which I definitely have. And hopefully, with prayers and luck on my side, soon I’ll be able to call myself a “nouveau riche”.
